NOM 350ci engine, automatic transmission, posi rear-end. A great starter Vette for someone mechanically inclined, this 73 is a blast to drive, and is easy on the wallet as well. From the factory, this was an extremely well-optioned car. While this car does show the correct VIN code for an L82 engine, the original block is now gone, but has happily been replaced by an even more powerful block, which shows the common 3970010 casting number and a CTL suffix on the stamp pad. This suffix corresponds to a 1970 350ci, rated at 300hp, which would have been originally installed in a manual transmission car. The good news is, this engine puts out 50 more horsepower than the original L82 engine would have! Body shows a build date of October 13,1972. This car is best described as a 20-footer; the paint has plenty of shine to it, but many small imperfections. Bubbles can be seen in the finish throughout the car, and the door gaps are a little excessive as well. Furthermore, there is a good size crack in the paint on the passenger fender/front clip area, although the fiberglass does not seem to be broken. There is however a small chip of fiberglass missing from the front of the driver door edge. The original rear window has been replaced by a 1968-72 style removable piece. Rear bumpers look to be original, and are badly scratched and pitted. Fortunately, rear bumpers for these cars are very inexpensive (see your salesman for details). The chrome door handles show some pitting as well, but function with no issues. Two out of the four tail lights show some cracking beneath the lens surface, but are not physically broken. The rally wheels show good center caps and trim rings, but do have the beginnings of some rust bubbles on the wheels themselves upon closer inspection. Tires are Dunlop GT Qualifiers with roughly 25% tread remaining. Weather stripping is currently missing from the doors; remaining weather stripping is brittle and will need to be replaced also. The interior is mostly complete, but will need a full restoration as well. The leather seat covers are cracked and are coming apart at the seams; the covering on the door panels has torn off in multiple areas, and the woodgrain and carpet on them are in rough shape as well. Driver's door lock knob is also missing. Additionally, the rear section of the center console is cracked at the parking brake, as well as its side. Shift plate wood trim is also in poor shape, and the plaque denoting the engine statistics is missing as well. The carpet in this car is of the correct cut-pile style, but is nonetheless worn and faded. The steering wheel itself is in good shape, but will need a new horn button and trim ring as the original is faded and chipped. Amazingly, the clock works on this car! The dash pad is in good shape with no visible cracks or splits. Original radio has been swapped some time ago, as evidenced by the fact that it was replaced by a vintage Pioneer cassette deck. Many performance goodies can be seen under the hood, including a set of headers, a vintage Edelbrock Torker II intake, Edelbrock carburetor with electric choke (choke not currently hooked-up), Edelbrock valve covers with breather, Accel HEI electronic ignition, performance plug wires, and chrome water pump and thermostat housing. Additionally, a stall converter of unknown specifications has been installed. Both the a/c compressor and ignition shielding are currently missing. Values of these chrome bumper cars are still on the rise, and this car is still a great investment that will provide countless hours of fun!
