EVERY single nut and bolt on this car has been gone through; simply put, this is the car you WISH the General had built in 1962! The paint on this straight axle is absolutely gorgeous and just about flawless, and we all know this is not easy to achieve on a black car. Chrome bumpers look brand new and better than any reproduction we have seen with no waves or imperfections. We don't like to use the word perfect when describing a car, but it seems appropriate in this case! Weather stripping is brand new all around, and is extremely soft. The chrome door handles are just as nice as the bumpers, as is all the other chrome trim on the car -- even the ashtray shows a flawless mirror finish! A 1998-02 Camaro SS style hood looks right at home on this car, and appears to be the only body modification made to this C1. This beauty rides on polished 17x7 American Racing Torque Thrust wheels, which show brand new Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 rubber, size 225/55/17. At quick glance, the interior of this '62 looks factory stock, although a closer inspection yields some nice subtle upgrades. The seats have been redone in real leather by Al Knoch, and are glove-soft with no excuses. Correct loop carpet has given way to plush cut-pile, which goes nicely with the softer-appearing seats. In addition, the original gauges have been seamlessly replaced with premium Auto Meter units, all in the original mounting locations, but now providing accurate readouts. Once again, every knob, screw, and piece of trim on this interior has either been redone or is brand new! This is not your quick average straight axle restoration with seat covers, carpet, and otherwise all original trim. The paint on the instrument panel is just as nice as the paint on the exterior! Dash pad is also of course brand new and looks great. This car features a correct steering wheel with one difference from most other vehicles from vintage: it's perfect! Not even the slightest scratch on the horn button. Original seatbelts have been replaced with a set of G-FORCE harnesses, which appear to be much stronger than the originals. Original 4 wheel drum brakes have been replaced with disc all around -- extremely common and easy-to-service GM brakes have been installed up front; Ford Explorer discs and calipers have been mounted in the rear. The in-precise and heavy factory steering box has been replaced with a Flaming River Rack & Pinion setup, making this straight axle much easier and more enjoyable to drive. A QA1 front coil-over system courtesy of Jim Meyer Racing helps this car keep its footing in tight turns. Keeping the balance between raw power and reliability is the 430hp Edelbrock crate engine, which features polished valve covers, Edelbrock Performer intake and carburetor, serpentine belt setup with polished pulleys, and a polished fuel pump and thermostat housing. An electric fan has also been added to maximize the efficiency of this engine. Ignition system is all MSD components, which includes the distributor, coil, and wires. A chrome alternator and air cleaner help to set this engine bay off nicely. Backing this engine up is a Richmond 6 speed transmission, giving you the feel of a vintage 4 speed in first gear, and the highway smoothness of a C6 in sixth. Finally, the drag racer's choice Ford 9 inch rear-end puts the power to the ground. Exhaust notes are provided by a set of coated longtube headers and an exhaust system composed of David Lord Custom Performance and Magnaflow components. Hurry before this no-excuses '62 disappears!
