This Corvette's original owner was the famous and significant Betty Skelton. Prior to her ownership this Corvette was also likely the print and advertising car for the 65 Corvette program.

Officially this Corvette car was delivered to Zone 00 Dealer 500 per the NCRS Shipping Data Report. Research has told us that Zone 00 Dealer 500 was not an actual location, but was set up by Joe Pike (the National Sales Manager for Chevy and Corvette’s #1 ambassador) to establish a charge number to the Central Office for Campbell-Ewald (The Corvette Program’s official marketing agency) to invoice Chevrolet for Corvette advertising, i.e. cars, prints, images, upkeep, etc. Per the Protect-O-Plate Chevrolet Central Office received the car in December 1964. Betty was a marketing executive for Campbell-Ewald for the Corvette program and also served as the spokeswoman for Chevrolet during the late 50s-late 60s. Chevrolet Central Office/Campbell-Ewald had this car for nearly 6 months from 12/21/1964 through 5/12/1965. So, research seems to show that this car was ordered by Joe Pike as a Brass Hat car and/or more likely used for advertising prior to Betty Skelton becoming the first “official” owner. Some one with more Corvette knowledge and contacts within the Corvette world maybe able to better document and find more about the history of this car. There maybe more left to discover.

The Corvette was published in Vette magazine,, and was on display at the Corvette Museum this year (per the museum's request). It is scheduled to be on display at MCACN in November.

The Corvette does run and drive, but will need some TLC.

This is a rare opportunity to own a true survivor Corvette with a very unique and significant history.

Serious inquiries only please. More pictures available upon request.
