Corvette Description

After searching 1980 Corvettes out there for sale I have adjusted my price to reflect what I believe to be a one of a kind 1980 Corvette. I can not find a nicer, more original example. There are lesser cars out there that are priced higher. Literally every similar car I find has issues. It's been painted, engines swapped, parts missing, etc. My little red Corvette is special. If you don't think so or can't appreciate the investment quality of my car, just move on to another one. If you want an ALL ORIGINAL, MATCHING NUMBERS car, read on. Air conditioning is now working! Had a tech put in 4 cans of R12 and new AC Delco pressure switch. Blows cold. He said it leaked out around the compressor seal from lack of use and sitting. 2nd owners only drove it 150 miles a year. Also, electric locks are working as well, new plug on driver's side switch. Only the clock and the 8-track does not work on this car, both easy fixes. New quartz clock is $209 at Corvette Central. 8-track costs about $200, if you add blue tooth and other upgrades cost is more, I will leave that up to the new owner. I've had a few inquiries asking about the mileage. In the description I am explaining why the title has exempt on it. I have receipts/documentation showing the actual mileage through the years plus the condition of the car, ie the original tires for one, shows it has 20,784 actual miles. The previous owner had it for 40 years and only drove it to local car shows. I bought this Corvette from the second owner. Beautiful and desirable red on red L82 with 230 horse power (base cars had 190 hp). This is a survivor, unaltered in any way since it was built. Matching numbers. It doesn't get any better than this, the one you've been waiting for. Probably one of the most original and correct 1980 Corvettes out there. ONE OF THE LAST L82 powered Corvettes to be made, built in the last month of production for 1980 Corvettes. L82 option was no longer available after 1980. All 1981's came with the L81 with 190 hp. The car is in amazing condition for being 43 years old. Original paint, never wrecked. Original tires and yes, they are cracking from age. Perfect for shows but not for long trips. The original air filter was still in the car and will be included. Spare tire may not have been used, still has nubs, but is also cracking. Jack is in it's place. Smog pump present. Paint shines as well as enamel can shine. Even from the factory when new the paint on these cars was not that good. This car was built in St. Louis in the last month of production in August of 1980. Chevrolet switched to base coat/clear coat in the new Bowling Green plant for 1981. Minor cracking and checking of the paint is normal for these cars. There are some chips and a scratch, watch the videos. Wheels are mint with zero curb rash or loss of finish. Interior is 99%. Original dated T-top bags, look unused. Radio works but I can't get a tape to play. Dash is nice and not cracked. Power windows zip up and down as fast as any car I've had. Original floor mats and 2 sets of keys. Never anything painted, not on the body or on the engine. The shiny black on the air cleaner is original. It's hard to find a C3 that has not had some kind of work, this one is the exception. True investment quality. To start it when cold you pump it, runs a bit cold natured until warmed up. Since the air filter was never changed you can bet the carb has had no one work on it either. Probably still has the original spark plugs. Plug wires are original because I can see the date on them. These are things that could be changed to make the car run smoother but I'll leave that to the next owner. It is a candidate for Survivor certification at some Corvette shows. I see several 1980 Corvettes that have been painted or modified, this car is as original as you will find, and it's a red on red L82! New tires would be an improvement over the old hard tires, again, that is up to the new owner. Original owner's manual and glovebox stuff including the warranty card, filled in by the first owner. Original dealer's copy spec sheet showing how the car was optioned and prices. Several receipts over the years of various maintenance work. The car pulled to the right when driving and also while braking. I had an alignment done and installed new front brake calipers, pads, and hoses. Drives straight and stops straight. Transmission shifts as it should. I put on a new coolant overflow cap. The second owner's moved from Minnesota to South Dakota and were negligent in keeping the original miles on the title. OR, it was exempted at the time due to age, some states do this. Receipts show mileage over the years however. I have a clear Indiana title in my name. Some interesting and useful information about 1980 red/red L82 Corvettes. All numbers are from the Corvette Black Book. In 1980 GM built 40,614 Corvettes. 5069 (12.5%) were L82's. 5714 (14%) were red. By extrapolation we can conclude that there were only 710 red L82 cars built. There were 7184 (18%) Corvettes with red leather. Again by extrapolation it is probable that only 128 were made with the red on red combination. A good amount of the red cars probably had black interiors, or some other colors that were available. Taking it further, this car came with the optional wider 60 series tires. 13,140 (32%) of all cars had them making this Corvette possibly 1 of 42 in this configuration. How many are as nice as this? Probably none! Car comes with a new car cover and new (non GM) glass tops still in the box. 1980 was the last year for non-computer controlled Corvettes! California cars had 305 engines and some kind of emission computer system. Still, the 1980 L82 picked up 5 horsepower over the 1979 model. Personally, I love this car in red with red interior. When you say red on red L82 your mind thinks of 1979 and 1980 Corvettes. This is one of the last to be built, number 38575 of 40614. They are only original once, don't settle for anything less. Sold as-is, no warranty written or implied. Save fees buying privately. I am not a dealer. I will assist your shipper. Price is negotiable. If you do not want the glass tops price can be adjusted. The last video I took in the garage trying to show the different reflections and how straight and shiny the car is.
