Corvette Description

This 1994 Corvette Brickyard 400 Official Corvette Convertible was used for the Inaugural Race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on August 6th 1994. This particular car is 1 of only 25 Corvettes, 12 black 13 red produced for this historic occasion. It was Indianapolis Motor Speedway number 74 out of 137 total Chevrolet vehicles used in the event. These Corvettes were used for specific pre-race parades to transport NASCAR drivers around the Motor Speedway. Car number 74 carried A.J. Foyt and Derrike Cope. In the line up of the 22 corvettes it was in the 3rd position. Guest VIP was Dennis Norman.
All 25 Corvettes were what G.M. calls Special Purpose Built, by the Gm Technical Center. It was reported that these 25 Corvettes received more Horsepower and other changes as they were to be used at Indy to give what Indy refers to as hot laps. This car also bears the signatures of Derrike Cope and G.M.Corvette Chief Engineer Dave McLellan. A. J. Foyt signed the Corvette Title. Jeff Gordon was the winner of the first NASCAR race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. After the race all 25 were returned to the General Motors Technical Center and reviewed for various evaluation purposes. This Corvette on June 29, 1997 received its Bloomington Gold Certification. On June 22, 2001 it received its Historic Award
